Product Structure & Composition

Central strength member: A non-metallic FRP (Fiber Reinforced Plastic) rod.

Loose tubes: Placed around the central strength member, each tube contains 250 μm colored fibers filled with water-resistant fiber jelly.

Cable core filling: The interstices between tubes are filled with cable jelly, and a water-blocking material is wrapped around the core to ensure full water resistance.

Inner sheath: A thin Polyethylene (PE) inner sheath applied over the cable core, also filled with jelly‑like compound for water protection.

Corrugated aluminum tape (from the image): Wrapped around the inner sheath to enhance moisture-proofing.

Water-blocking material (from the text): Applied further to prevent water ingress.

Corrugated steel tape armor: Provides crush resistance and rodent protection.

Outer sheath: A final PE outer sheath completing the cable.

Frequently Asked Questions & Quick Inquiry

GYFTY53 Armored Cable  FAQ

What is GYFTY53 fiber optic cable and what does its model name mean?

GYFTY53 is an outdoor, non-metallic strength member armored fiber optic cable. The model follows Chinese national standards: G stands for outdoor communication cable, Y for polyethylene (PE) sheath, F for non-metallic strength member (FRP – fiber reinforced plastic), T for filled loose tube stranding, 53 for double sheath structure (inner PE + steel tape armor + outer PE).

What are the typical installation scenarios for GYFTY53 cable?

GYFTY53 is suitable for direct burial, duct, and aerial installations. It is widely used in subways, tunnels, long-haul communications, and inter-office links, especially in high lightning areas, high-voltage transmission corridors, and strong electromagnetic interference environments. Its non-metallic central strength member (FRP) makes it non-conductive, allowing safe aerial use in lightning-prone regions.

What are the key features and advantages of GYFTY53 cable?

Key advantages include: excellent anti-EMI and lightning protection thanks to the non-metallic FRP central member; high crush resistance and water tightness from the double sheath plus steel tape armor (PSP); full-section water-blocking design and special gel-filled loose tubes for superior moisture protection; UV resistance and rodent resistance from dual PE sheaths; and a typical service life of over 30 years.

What are the main technical parameters of GYFTY53 cable?

Technical parameters: operating temperature range -40°C to +70°C; allowable tensile strength – long term 1000N, short term 3000N; crush resistance – long term 1000N/100mm, short term 3000N/100mm; bending radius – static 12.5×cable diameter, dynamic 25×cable diameter; fiber core count from 2 to 144 cores.

What installation precautions should be taken for GYFTY53 cable?

During installation: dynamic bending radius must not be less than 25×cable diameter, static not less than 12.5×cable diameter; short-term pulling force ≤3000N, long-term ≤1000N; installation temperature between -15°C and +60°C; pulling tension ≤1500N, speed ≤15m/min, avoid sharp 90° bends; the armor layer must be grounded at one end with grounding resistance ≤4Ω.

What is the difference between GYFTY53 and other models like GYTA or GYTS?

The main difference lies in armor materials: GYTA uses aluminum tape armor, GYTS uses steel tape armor – both typically require an additional conduit for direct burial. GYFTY53 uses a non-metallic FRP strength member + double-sheath steel tape armor, allowing direct burial without extra conduit. It also offers a wider temperature range (-40°C to +70°C) and is ideal for lightning-prone and high-EMI areas. GYTA53, another double-sheath double-armored model, can also be directly buried but includes metal components.
